"We meet yet again!" I said happily.

"Yeee, what a joy." said begrudgingly my good old friend. Well, not exactly my friend, let's just say that we met so many times in this same kind of situation that we became... aquantices.

"When will you stop?" asked he.

I shrugged my shoulders saying: "Don't know, don't care. I'm having too much fun to stop."

His left eye twitched with anger. He knew I was breaking the laws but he couldn't do a single thing to stop me. I was the one in power. I walked around and looked at the monotonous landscapes. There were clocks everywhere, each one ticking and tocking without rest or, at least, the majority of them. I passed a few that had stopped, their hands blocked pointing at midnight. I knew for sure it was midnight and not midday, after all midnight had always ment "end". I continued to walk, my "friend" following me. I knew that one day I was going to regret all this but now it didn't matter at all.

In the end I reached it, my clock. I looked at it: it was still ticking but, at the same time, the hands weren't moving, eternally stopped at 23:59:59. I smiled seeing this. I looked to the right. There was a door, a solid wooden door. It didn't have a doorknow or a handle but I knew it was going to open the moment I touched it.

I took off my top hat and bowed a little at my friend.

"You know you can't escape from Time, right?"

"I know all too well, but at least I can hide for a little while."

"Three hundred years seems enough for a game of hide'n seek."

"What can I say, I'm a good player."

"You know what makes me smile every time that you cross that door?"

"Tell me, I'm curious."

"The fact that still your time is ticking and that one day it will tock its last tick and in that moment I'll be there with my good old companion Death. And I'll savour every second of that moment."

"Well, good for you." I said smiling.

I walked the short distance divided me from my future life and touched the door. It opened without a sound. There was light on the other side, a white light, the light of unknown. I liked to guess what I would be in that life. In my past I had been a famous general, a dictator, a commoner and a lord. I had seen the head of Luigi XIV being cut away from the rest of the body, I had been a close consultant of Napoleon, I had seen the rise and fall of Hitler. And many other things.

I stepped into the door. The light ate at my body, destroying it so that it could be reborn again. The last thing I saw was him, Time, smiling. My awareness was the last thing to fade and, in that moment, I felt an immense fear. But it was gone immediatly, like the rest.

I hope you liked this short story of mine. This is what the image made me think of. I think it's beatiful and that it hides many meanings apart that of "Nothing is created, nothing is destroyed". I would be very glad if you told me what you think of this story (And also I would be very glad if you don't give too much importance to the grammar=P ).
